OPIOID INDUCED CONSTIPATION (OIC) remains a significant unmet medical need for patients taking opioids on a regular basis for pain. Research reveals that this condition affects 64% of patients with CANCER RELATED PAIN.
We are currently conducting a research study to evaluate the SAFETY AND EFFECTIVENESS of two doses of a new oral INVESTIGATIONAL MEDICATION in patients with OIC who are being trated for cancer related pain.
We are looking for patients who meet the following entry criteria:
18 years or older
Self-reported symptoms of OIC
Stable maintenance opioid regimen (> 30 mg morphine equivalent)
Has life expectancy of > 3 months
Outpatient status
Patients will be required to attend approximately 7 scheduled visits during a 10 week period. This includes a 4 week treatment period in which patients will be given investigational medication (one of two doses) or placebo.
You may be compensated for your time and travel.
